1941-Nelson leaves collage in his second year and runs away from an arranged marriage.

1960-Sharpeville Massacres. Police killed 69 protesters and government bands ANC.
1961-Court dismisses treason charges against Mandela and he is named 1st commander of the ANC’s new rebel army.
1962-Nelson Mandela is arrested for inciting unrest and leaving the country without a passport and is sentenced to five years in prison.
1964 –Along with other defendants, Mandela receives life sentence. He returns to Robben Island.
1982-Mandela is transferred to Pollsmoor, a prison on the mainland.
1988-Mandela is moved to a warden’s cottage at Victor Verster prison.
